U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Captiva provided consulting support to the DHS Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for implementation of the Department-wide cloud strategy. We were responsible for developing the strategy for deploying a suite of 35 Software-as-a-Service capabilities to be used by the Department’s Agencies and Organizational Components. Capabilities included email, web hosting, customer relationship management, case management, business intelligence, and virtual desktops. We developed the Department’s budgets, supported drafting of Interagency Agreements, and provided development and implementation oversight.
Throughout the 5-year project, we developed prototypes to help senior management and technologists better determine capabilities. We also provided engineering support, such as in developing the design for extending the DHS Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to allow Department employees authenticate to cloud-based applications using the Department’s authentication and authorization infrastructure.
